Posted to the forum today. What do you think?
Since the coming out of BC there have been innumerable changes in the guild. From our initial split with Thorsen we've grown into a large but somewhat fragmented group. It's now time to change that. We've been slowly transitioning from what was an almost solely PvP focus to a balanced one to one based more on raids. If we want a future, as a respected guild, we need to move along in this direction. This post is aimed at helping that happen.
I see this as a good thing. It shows growth in our membership and our abilities to work together as a guild. But. And there's always a but isn't there? We've become stagnant. We're not really progressing as we ought to be, and that is leading to a loss of members. Mostly healers and tanks. They hang about and get a bit of loot from Karazhan then move on. Now I now this happens to a lot of guilds but we need to look more at retention. And in order to retain people we need to be progressing. Hence our attempt in The Eye on Voidreaver last Saturday.
Several things need to occur. They need to occur now. Later will be too late.
1. We need a commitment from a core of 25+ people, including the requisite numbers of tanks and healers, to actually progress through the content.
2. This means committing to set raid times.
3. It means showing up at the entrance - not begging for a summon
five minutes before the raid is due to start. It means coming prepared with potions, elixirs, soul shards, water, food, bandages and anything else you might need.
4. It means that when we say a raid starts at 6:30 server time, you are ready and waiting before then so the first pull can be done at 6:30.
5. It means that, in case of an emergency whereby you can't take your assigned place, you call someone ahead of time and let them know. Calling your mate down the road who doesn't play isn't going to cut it. The officers all have phones.
6. It means doing some research about new raids and bosses. This means you don't go in unprepared. http://www.wowwiki.com/Main_Page
is your friend.
7. It means realising that you're going to permanently forfeit your spot if you cannot be consistent. I understand that everyone has lives. That's fair enough. I'm not asking for a seven-day per week commitment. At this stage just three days. And it isn't like it's all day.
8. It means visiting and using these forums. Seriously. We can only put so much in a guild message. We can put a lot more here.
9. It means that our crafters are at your disposal. Helping a guildie and a raidmate is helping yourself. It means giving away goods to fellow guildmates where needed. It will benefit you in the long term. Besides - it's good kharma right?
If you wish to be part of this group please let me know here. Saying you want to in guild chat is not acceptable. Please add your class and raid build to your comment.
Now a quick FAQ Does this mean the end of scÖrn PvP on Destromath?
No. Of course it doesn't. Individual and group PvP will always be a part of what we do. Further to that, if raiding is not your thing you're under no obligation to join the raid groups. Why the hell should I give away itemX, it sells for 349857395gold?
You don't have to. But bear in mind that doing so starts a chain of giving and receiving. Sure you can sell it for that amount in the AH. But doing so may well hamper our efforts. A lot of our players already give things away free to guildies. And remember - we take note of generosity. Those who give shall also receive. I don't want to run raidX, there's nothing there for me
Maybe not, but in order to progress we need everyone used to working together. Besides, you'll be help to gear up other people - and that works in your favour as well. What about Gruuls/Mags? Why are we heading straight at TK/SSC?
We haven't forgotten them. But we;re also aware that we are capable of running at least some of TK and SSC. The rewards for doing so are substantially greater as well. It'll pay off.
Right, enough said for now. If you want in on this future then please post here with your name, class and spec.
Karazhan will continue to be run during the week. We are now looking at The Eye as well. Probably starting with Void Reaver and Alar on Saturdays at 1:00pm server time. Please allow enough time to get these done.
Some thoughts I have on fixing some guild issues:
I just came up with these on the commute into work, so I'm sure that without coffee they will piss people off but I thought that they just might work.
When we recruit people (especially tanks and healers) tell them that we will help them acquire their gear in direct proportion to how many raids and/or herioc instances they run with the guild. Also, let them know that any herioc they are interested in running that officers will attempt to get them a group for. I know I could use some more rep and I'm happy to help on those runs. There's nothing I really, really need out of the heriocs, but the rep would be great. Anyhow, the specifics of it don't even matter, but give them a clear path for progression. Perhaps I could write something with Amber (I know that we have similar feelings), run it past Shadow and post it on the website?
Encourage everyone to take advantage of the fact that we have crafters in our guild which are quite good. I am always personally happy to help anyone with some cloth if they need it, Papa can make scopes for hunters, Amber and Shadow can do enchants, etc. This serves 2 purposes though. For instance, I got my weapon crafted by Kaitainz. I don't have to role on any weapons now, (until we get a Prince drop maybe!), but that would be a pass to other people with blues. So, we'll have more people wearing epics, so that when other pieces drop they can be rolled for.
I think we should set some firm rules. We are losing people to the big raiding guilds that have firm rules in place regarding attendance and preparation. I think that we should set them as well. I think that this will make the long standing members less frustrated and garner us some WOW crediblity at the same as it will hopefully allow us to progress. I know that we have the people that are talented enough to make this work but some rules on showing up ontime with pots, etc. makes tons of sense to me.
So, those are my thoughts, I don't know exactly how to implement them (Shadow - you have any ideas) but I'm willing to do whatever I need to in order for the guild to progress.

Expansion announced (x-posted to website)
Blizzard have announced the next expansion to World of Warcraft. Wrath of the Lich King will be set in Northrend. At least one new character clss has been announced as well - the Death Knight (and this looks like a warlock in plate - my prayers have been answered). No date for release has been put forward at this time. Level cap will increase to 80.
You can find more information (including a trailer) at Wrath of the Lich King

Prince down again
Group one clobbered the prince again last night. Third attempt of the evening. The first one ended with him at just over 2k hitpoints and all the DPS either dead or OOM. We moved on to Nightbane and mad a couple of runs at him. While we didn't get him down we did get the gist of the fight. We'll down him (and I think without too much trouble) on Monday night. If group two doesn't go to Karazhan today there is perhaps smallish possibility of a run at either Gruul's Lair or Magtheridon Current Mood: accomplished

Karazhan pot list
Hehe, you asked so here comes the list:
Elixirs of Shadow Power
Major Agility Elixirs
Healing Power Elixirs
Major Defense Elixirs
Elixirs of Mastery
Elixirs of Draenic Wisdom
Elixirs of Major Firepower
Yep, that's a big list and I don't expect it completely filled. I know there's a lot of farming involved. I'm going to farm for stam/spell power/healing/spirit foods as well

What it is?
|Wednesday, May 9th, 2007|
Ok guys, so it sounds like Kara isn't going as well as everyone would like, and that we need more priests, not so much for the healing as for the shackles? So, tonight I'm going to stop screwing around in Eastern Plaguelands running Strat and Scholo, and go over to Hellfire (for real!) and get my ass leveled up. If anyone would be interested in helping me run Blood Furnace or Ramparts this evening, let me know. The last Ramparts run I got more than half a level, and that only went so-so, so in theory, I could do 18 instances and have be at level 70, with no quest turn-ins, or questing at all.
I have 2 quests to turn in and then I'm leaving Azeroth for good in terms of questing and fighting I suppose and going to the Outlands. I just wish I could look at "game" sites at work, they filter all sites here, so I knew once I got home I could immediately find the quest givers for all those instances. Hey Roy - if you get a second, look-up the quest info for me, please.
I'm totally serial guys, I'm getting this shit done!

Finally to level 58. I'm so glad I can go play with the big boys now. It will be awesome, and Roy says it will be much faster than the leveling I'm doing in Silithus. I need to help Onixx and S0ni do some things in the Blasted Lands anyway and I will get some xp from helping them, so its a win-win.
It was nice this weekend having some time to level, but next weekend is packed. I'm never going to make it to 70 by this Sunday as I said would. Ah well, at least I'm starting to actually make some quick progress, but these last 12 levels seem terribly challenging.

I made this community, because "game" sites are blocked at work and I want to keep up with you guys when and if folks are interested in doing so. Hopefully, other people will be enticed...
So, my current personal WOW goal is to get to 61 by Sunday night. I have no plans for this evening, so besides a bit of working out and some sushi, I'm going questing, questing, questing... and seeing if I can beg any of you guys for help getting me through Sthralholme (spelling?) since I have 4 red or orange quests there. I think between the runs and the turn-ins, that could be a level or two easy enough. I'm really excited about getting to 70 and getting to play with everyone.
hey fellow guildies,
to those of you who participated in last night's Gruul's Lair run, thanks for the laughs and overall good time. It was my first night in Scorn and my first raid ever, and I really had a ton of fun. I can't wait to do it again. :D
